PTI, carried by India Today and BusinessLine, said nearly 5,000 people were rescued in two days, including 16 airlifted at Dongaghat. A state public-relations post put that airlift at 18, by an Air Force Mi-17. The reports do not give one statewide death toll.
India Today and The Times of India both reported 56 dead and 46 injured. India Today tied the figures to 60 hours of rain and state government data. The Times of India cited the Relief Commissioner's office for 25–26 September. A line in the India Today report also referred to 10 deaths and 17 injuries on Saturday.
The Hindu BusinessLine reported Saturday's position: over 70,000 people in 395 camps, 13 districts, and the Subarnarekha at 11.07 m at Jaleswar. The New Indian Express later reported more than 75,000 evacuated, and separate Balasore and Bhadrak figures. The numbers are not collapsed here.
