Fact-check
What we check, how we rate it, and how to send a claim.
A fact-check starts from a specific claim: who said it, and when. We look for the primary document, the official statement, and at least two independent outlets. We look for the original picture or video when the claim depends on one.
The labels are False, Misleading, Missing context, Unverified, True, and Partly true. Unverified means we could not establish the claim, not that it is false. A fact-check article carries the claim, the evidence and the sources.
Send a claim through the form. We store it. We do not promise to check every one.
- Misleading Jantar Mantar 'live protest' video is old footage, Delhi Police says
A clip presented as a live, massive protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar was identified by the DCP New Delhi account as archived footage from a past event. Fact-checkers date the pictures to 31 January 2024. The police post did not.
