J&K Assembly passes a resolution asking the Centre to restore statehood
On Monday the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly passed, by voice vote, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's resolution asking the Centre for immediate restoration of full statehood. The BJP walked out. Deccan Herald reported that eight amendments were withdrawn and the original text was voted. The vote is the Assembly's demand. It does not itself restore statehood.

Delhi slap video: what each side says, five complaints and no FIR yet
On 27 September, a video from a road inspection in Tilak Nagar showed Deputy Chief Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma pushing down a phone and slapping Saheb Singh, an aide of AAP MLA Jarnail Singh. Verma says he was abused. Saheb Singh alleges he was manhandled. Police told The Times of India on Monday of five complaints and no FIR. Aaj Tak reported a non-cognisable report.

Assam Police detained Cockroach Janta Party co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka and other volunteers in Guwahati on Sunday, before a meeting. The party alleged there was no notice and that lawyers were kept out. Ranka later said the detention had ended. The Chief Minister did not give a reason.

Tamil Nadu revokes the RTI exemption for the Public (Law and Order) Department
On Sunday the state withdrew a 21 September order that had classed the Public (Law and Order) Department as an intelligence and security organisation under Section 24(4) of the RTI Act. The decision followed criticism, including from the DMK, the CPM and human rights groups. The law minister had defended the order hours earlier.

TMC MLA Kunal Ghosh alleges a second attack on his car in Kolkata
Kunal Ghosh alleged that a group on motorbikes attacked his car in Phoolbagan on Sunday and tried to drag him out. He blamed the BJP. BJP spokesperson Debjit Sarkar said the allegation was false and pointed to factionalism in the Trinamool Congress. Police said a complaint and a CCTV review were under way.
EC says BLOs will collect documents at home from voters served SIR notices
After a full meeting on Saturday, the Election Commission said voters noticed in the special intensive revision for being unmapped or for logical discrepancies need not ordinarily attend a hearing. Booth level officers will collect documents at home. The Commission also set out a review of ECINet and extended claim deadlines in Delhi and Maharashtra.
