How Neutral Politics sources, labels and corrects a story.

Sourcing

A story is not published without at least two independent outlets. Two sites in the same group count as one. The sources list on every article names the outlet and links to it. A photo keeps the credit it arrived with.

Neutrality

Both sides of a dispute get space when both have spoken. Words such as "alleged" are kept, and the Hindi text uses "कथित" for the same caution. The desk does not add adjectives about parties.

Sensitive stories

We do not name survivors of sexual violence. We do not show graphic detail. Faces of minors and of people in distress are not published when a picture would identify them.

Hindi and other help from software

English is the source text. Hindi is produced by a translation step and then read by a person while the story is still a draft. The Hindi page says so. Software that writes a caption or a voice on Instagram is labelled there. It is not a substitute for the two-source check.

Video from contributors

A file from a reader is not a story until the same check is done: the person is contacted, the file is looked at, the place and time are corroborated, and two independent sources or an official record agree. Nothing is paid for a video in this version.

Corrections

A factual mistake is fixed on the article and listed on the corrections page, with the date and a description of what was wrong.
