The Gomti was still rising slowly in Lucknow on Thursday, according to the Uttar Pradesh irrigation department, as Hindustan Times reports the 8 pm readings. At Hanuman Setu the river stood at 107.30 metres, up 5 cm in 24 hours, and 2.20 metres below the danger mark of 109.50 metres. At the Gomti barrage it stood at 107.08 metres, up 8 cm, and 2.12 metres below the danger mark of 109.20 metres. At Gaughat it stood at 108.60 metres, up 3 cm, and below its danger level. All three city gauges were below danger. The Times of India reported similar readings at 6 pm: 107.30 metres, 107.05 metres and 108.60 metres, with Hanuman Setu up 6 cm. Upstream, the level was falling. At Bhatpurva it was 113.00 metres, down 8 cm in 24 hours, Hindustan Times reports. At Naimisharanya it was 121.56 metres, down 46 cm, The Times of India reports.

Mukesh Vaish, executive engineer of the irrigation department's Lucknow division, told Hindustan Times that the fall upstream should gradually reach the city's monitoring points, with relief expected in 24 to 48 hours. The Times of India quoted an official expecting a decline within 24 hours. Both lines are forecasts, not gauge readings.

The district administration has deployed 52 boats and set up a relief camp at Hayat Nagar with medical and revenue teams, The Times of India reports. The Lucknow Development Authority is using 26 pumps around Ekana Stadium and Phoenix Palassio mall, The Times of India and Live Hindustan report. Hindustan Times said more than 25. This note uses 26. On 7 October the municipal corporation said, via PTI, that it had set up 12 temporary night shelters and was running about 20 water tankers.
