This note is NP EXPLAINS. The stamp is verified. It was checked at 4:33 pm IST on 13 October 2026, last checked at 10:27 pm IST, and posted at 10:30 pm IST. An earlier look at the IMF's own issue page, at 10:55 am IST, found the words Coming Soon. The 4:33 pm check is the one this note uses for the table.
The release is the IMF's October 2026 World Economic Outlook. India's growth forecast for FY2026-27, the year that runs from April to March, is raised to 7.0% from 6.4% in the July forecast. The forecast for FY2027-28 is raised to 7.0% from 6.7%. On a calendar-2026 basis the figure is 7.4%. The world growth forecast for 2026 is 3.1%. The July numbers are the earlier forecast, not a result for those years.
These are forecasts. They are not actual growth. The screen's last card is that split: a forecast on one side, a result on the other. This note stays on the forecast side.
The IMF cites domestic demand and services. It says India is "among the fastest-growing major economies". That sentence is the IMF's description, as the reports carry it. DD News, with IANS, uses the same line in its headline.
The October table on imf.org was not live when this was checked. At 10:55 am the issue page for 13 October 2026 showed Coming Soon, and the table was not read there. At 4:33 pm the WEO listing still ended at July 2026, and the path /weo-database/2026/October returned not found. Because that table was not open, this note attributes the figures to the IMF's post on X and to the outlets that reported the outlook: The Indian Express, DD News, Fortune India and Financial Express. The IMF post, as the check records it, says India 7.0% for 2026. The outlets are what spell out the fiscal year, the move from the July forecast, the calendar-2026 figure of 7.4%, and the world figure of 3.1%. Mint and BusinessLine are named in the same check as confirming that set. This page does not add links for those two, because they are not in the source list.
The two 7.0% lines are fiscal years. The 7.4% line is the calendar year 2026. They are not the same number, and this note does not fold them into one.
The cover is an NP graphic. The bars it draws for 6.4% and 7.0% are the July and October forecasts for FY2026-27.
