President Murmu appoints Governors for six states

This note is NP NOW. The stamp is verified. It records a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique of 12 October 2026, as reported by The Indian Express and The Hindu. Both of those reports were read in full on the morning of 13 October. The Indian Express was updated at 4:55 am IST that day. The Hindu's appointment story was published at 9:35 pm IST on 12 October. The first check is marked about 8:58 am IST. The caption's status line says 9:00 am IST. The note was re-verified at 7:48 pm IST and posted at 7:50 pm IST.

President Droupadi Murmu appointed Governors for six states. The states are Karnataka, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu and Keralam. The reports use the spelling Keralam. This note uses that spelling.

Four of the six are new names. Sudha Yadav is appointed Governor of Karnataka. Braj Mohan Ram is appointed Governor of Odisha. Dhal Singh Bisen is appointed Governor of Uttarakhand. Dushyant Gautam is appointed Governor of Sikkim. The Times of India's headline counts these as four new appointments and two moves. That split is the list above and the two transfers below.

Two Governors move. R.V. Arlekar moves from Keralam to Tamil Nadu. O.P. Mathur moves from Sikkim to Keralam. Read together, Sikkim's outgoing Governor in this communique is O.P. Mathur, and the person named for Sikkim is Dushyant Gautam. Keralam's outgoing Governor in this communique is R.V. Arlekar, and the person named for Keralam is O.P. Mathur. The Indian Express and The Hindu match on those names, those states and those two moves.

Each appointment takes effect from the date the appointee assumes charge. That sentence is in both reports that were read in full. The check records the rule. It does not record a separate calendar date for any of the six.

The Hindu's Karnataka report says Sudha Yadav will be Karnataka's second woman Governor. That is the line this note uses from that report. The appointment itself is the communique, as The Indian Express and The Hindu's main story give it.
