Around 10:30 am on Tuesday, 6 October 2026, INDIA bloc MPs marched from Parliament's Makar Dwar towards Nirvachan Sadan, the Election Commission headquarters, under a 'Save Democracy' banner. They demanded Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision and in Form 6. The Commission rejects those allegations. This note is NP NOW. The stamp on the march is developing.

Delhi Police stopped them on Parliament Street, between NITI Aayog and Akashvani Bhawan. They sat on a dharna on the road and never reached the Commission. PTI, via The New Indian Express and ThePrint, plus NDTV and The Tribune, report that stop.

Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were briefly detained and released minutes later, then went into the Akashvani Bhawan premises and stayed. NDTV, PTI and The Times of India's live account name both. The Economic Times's update names Priyanka Gandhi. This note follows NDTV and PTI.

The Tribune also reports that Akhilesh Yadav, Abhishek Banerjee and Derek O'Brien were detained. Their release was not reported.

The Biju Janata Dal joined, though it is not in the INDIA bloc. Its MP Sulata Deo said the party is "neither with the INDIA alliance nor with the NDA", The Statesman reports. The DMK and AAP stayed away, The Tribune and NDTV report, and those reports say AAP would take the issue up separately. This was not the whole Opposition.

Rahul Gandhi posted on X: "Gyanesh, it's done, bro. Time to resign." The Tribune carries that post. Shivraj Singh Chouhan of the BJP said the Opposition was "venting their frustration over their defeat", NDTV reports. That is his line.

The Commission says revision decisions were unanimous, PTI via The New Indian Express reports. In the fact-check NDTV, Hindustan Times and The Economic Times carry, it says its Bihar revision order was upheld by the Supreme Court, and that the Form 6 declaration in the revision was upheld. That is the Commission's account. The demand, as The Tribune and NDTV report it, also includes restoring voters the Opposition says were deleted. Those deletions are alleged.

As of about 3:05 pm IST, no Commission reply to the march, no FIR from it, and no further detention had been reported. A check around 3:45 pm IST of ThePrint with PTI, and of Indian Express, was unchanged. This note was posted at 4:46 pm IST.

Vijay's TVK joined the INDIA bloc on 3 October at a Tamil Nadu meeting, The Times of India and Indian Express report. That join is not the 6 October march.

Separately, police sources told ANI and PTI that Delhi Police registered four FIRs and arrested 18 people over violence at an NSUI protest on Parliament Street on 5 October. The Economic Times carries ANI, and The New Indian Express carries PTI. That figure is not about the 6 October march.

The cover is a Neutral Politics route schematic of Parliament, a barricade and the Election Commission. It is not to scale, and it shows no person.

Verify: Form 6 and the 5 October hearing

This section is verified as reported. It is not a finding.

On 5 October the court said "any modified Form 6 has not been approved by us", Indian Express, NDTV, Hindustan Times and The Economic Times report. Rahul Gandhi said this showed the Commissioner changed Form 6 "illegally and unilaterally". That is his allegation. The Commission called it "misleading". There is no court finding, and the remark is not a ruling against the Commission.

The same day the court refused an interim suspension of the Commissioner and issued notice to the Centre, the Commission, the Commissioner and others, with replies in about a week. LiveLaw, Hindustan Times, Bar & Bench and The Economic Times report that. The next hearing date is not yet confirmed.

The listing of those pleas is a separate published note: Supreme Court to hear pleas on the CEC and SIR on 5 October.

What's next

A Commission answer to the march, an FIR, and the release of the other people The Tribune names are not in the 3:45 pm check. The next Supreme Court date is not yet confirmed.
